Welcome to the Winchester
In the heart of a young, South Georgia boy lived the dream of the Wild West Cowboy. As the boy grew into a man, his dream took him on pilgrimages to Colorado, New Mexico, and Wyoming and into the saloons and dining establishments reminiscent of the cowboy way. With his wife, he brought his dream home to the Appalachians, where it grew into the reality of the Winchester Woodfire Grill, a modern day home on the range for Georgia natives and visitors alike.
After gaining years of experience in construction, R.L. and Rita combed the countryside from Alabama to Arizona in a quest to assemble only the most genuine artifacts for the building of the restaurant. They knew that prints and reproductions were not adequate for the size and scope of their vision. They filled the Winchester with the finest, original oil paintings, hand crafted saddles and chaps, as well as a world class collection of Winchester rifles. One can almost see the hand prints of the men and women who clutched these rifles as they began settling in the unknown frontier of the West. In keeping with the idea of authentic pieces of Western history, the actual building was constructed from hand hewn timbers, beams, and heart pine salvaged from long ruined saloons, hotels, and restaurants.
Every employee at the Winchester was hand picked from Atlantas most talented and dedicated industry professionals. The top chefs in the Southeast were chosen to select the finest hand cut steaks and freshest seafood seen thus far in these parts. The entire staff is committed to creating beautiful, unique, and delicious dishes to be served in an atmosphere of relaxed, western refinement.
So, come on in for dinner by the hand built fireplace or a cocktail in the saloon. But, remember, no spurs on the bar!
